From Italy with love - Alfa Romeo

The Alfa Romeo car company is an Italian automobile manufacturer in existence since 1910. It was founded in Milan, Italy, by a group of investors, including Alexandre Darracq, who was a French car maker. The company was initially called Società Anonima Italiana Darracq (SAID), but it was later renamed Alfa Romeo in 1915.


Alfa Romeo has a rich history in the automotive industry, producing some of the world's most iconic cars. The company has been involved in motorsport since its inception, which has helped to establish its reputation for producing high-performance vehicles. The brand has won numerous championships in various racing categories over the years, including Formula One, touring car racing, and sports car racing.


Over the years, Alfa Romeo has undergone several ownership changes. In 1915, the company was taken over by Nicola Romeo, an Italian entrepreneur, which led to the renaming of the company to Alfa Romeo. During World War II, the company was taken over by the Italian government and used to produce military equipment.


In 1986, the company was acquired by the Fiat Group, which led to a significant increase in production and sales. In 2007, the Alfa Romeo brand was merged with Fiat's other brands, including Lancia and Fiat itself, to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). In 2021, FCA merged with French automaker Groupe PSA to form Stellantis, which is the world's fourth-largest automaker.


Alfa Romeo has undergone several ownership changes over the years. It became part of the Fiat Group in 1986. In 2007, Fiat Group formed a new company called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), and Alfa Romeo became one of its brands. In 2014, FCA announced plans to spin off Alfa Romeo as a separate entity, but this did not happen. In 2021, FCA merged with French automaker Groupe PSA to form Stellantis, and Alfa Romeo is now part of this new company.


Alfa Romeo is a historic and iconic Italian car manufacturer that has been in existence for over a century. Even though the company has undergone several ownership changes over the years it has maintained its reputation for producing high-performance vehicles. Alfa Romeo continues to be a popular brand among car enthusiasts worldwide.
